Cat Camel |
The Cat Camel is an exercise use to help provide nutrition for your intervertebral discs, as well as to increase flexibility in your mid back (thoracic spine). A lack of flexibility through the mid back is often the cause of neck, shoulder, and low back pain. Perform 3 sets of 10 with this exercise. |
(1)Begin with your hands below your shoulders, and knees below your hips. Your back and head should be kept in a neutral position. (2)Slowly lower your head so that your chin comes close to your chest. At the same time push your mid back toward the ceiling. Hold this for 2-3 seconds. *Try to contract your core (see bruggers postural relief exercise to learn how) as you push your mid back toward the ceiling to take this exercise to the next level. (3)Slowly raise your head until you are looking forward. At the same time push your mid back toward the ground as far as possible. Again hold for 2-3 seconds. You may feel some tension in your mid back while doing this. *This exercise requires a slow controlled movement. Count slowly to three on the way up, and again on the way down. *It is a common mistake to arch and round your low back, Be sure the motion is coming from your mid back. |
