The first step to alleviating pain is learning how to stop injuring our self on a daily basis.  Most pain we experience is due to excess stress placed on our bodies due to our posture. For example sitting at a computer all day places tremendous stress on our neck, shoulders, and low back.  Initially this stress can be endured, but over time the tissues begin to get damaged and pain ensues. These exercises are called SPARING exercises.

Sparing Exercises:

CORRECTIVE exercises are the initial exercises used when muscular inadequacies or imbalances are found.  These exercises are prescribed following a full functional evaluation by Dr. Settergren.

Corrective Exercises:

Functional exercises are used in conjunction with correctional exercises.  These exercises focus on the muscular coordination which is involved with normal everyday movements.  When the body looses the proper coordination repetitive stress occurs and pain ensues.  These exercises are prescribed following a full functional evaluation by Dr. Settergren.
